3 Things:

1. I have an amazing husband. For the past 9 weeks I have been a complete slacker in the cleaning, cooking, looking decent departments and he has not complained (much). Instead he has cleaned, cooked or put up with my slacker cooking (like tonight we had grilled cheese and tomato soup), and tells me I'm beautiful or only makes minimal jokes. What a guy. If I can remember how crappy I feel in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy we will only have 2 kids.

2. Avery is a terrible eater. Terrible. She used to eat anything and everything. Now vegetables are a rarity in Avery's diet. She used to eat broccoli but now nada. She'll eat fruit, well most fruit. She'll eat cereal. She'll eat bread and peanut butter. But if she sees goldfish that is all she wants. What do I do? I know I need to be patient and keep trying to give her veggies and such but how do I make her healthy till she starts eating them? I do give her a multi-vitamin with flouride. But I want something better. Patience, I know.

3. What are healthy, easy meals? I don't always have the energy or want to cook, especially because of all the smells but quick meals would be great. Ideas anyone? Please.

Well, Cayman is super picky too. The only veggie he will eat right now is green beans. Canned green beans (make sure they have salt, because the "no salt added" kind are gross.) Maybe you tried that, but that's what Cayman eats. I also made him pasta salad. Just cook noodles and add things like cut up cheese, ham, and peas. Pour some Italian dressing on and toss and refrigerate. Again, she might not like that either, but it's easy. Cayman likes macaroni and cheese too and maybe you could add some peas to that. That's about all the success I've had with veggies. I know how frustrating it can be.

Picky eating? You're right...patience. Nothing else works. Just keep introducing the foods and one day, she'll eat them again.

Quick meals? How about sandwiches until the smell of food doesn't make you sick? You can eat healthy sammies with lettuce and tomatoes and such...AND they lower your food budget. Try it for a week and see if you guys can stand it. We did and it turned out to be fantastic.

Good luck!

Addie went through a super picky phase, and I still have to make her sit in her chair for about 30 minutes after everyone is done before she'll start eating her food. We have tons of luck with peas, CORN!!!, and green beans. Carrots too.

I do a tricolor rotini pasta with diced bell peppers, b.olives, italian dressing over it all, shredded cheese, and pepperoni if I have it...YUM!!! And its really good cold too, so I make a TON and we eat it for about 3 meals....lol.

Grilled cheese and tomato soup are a good meal... I consider that cooking...and do it usually about once a week during the winter... :P

Spaghetti is fast and cheap, walmart brand frozen tortellini or ravioli is good too. Cover it with a jar of spaghetti sauce and 1/2 a little box of heavy whipping cream and mix and it is heaven. Just add a bag of salad and you are done.

Other meals I love that are fast are sloppy joes with fresh cut veggies, chicken nuggets with canned veggies is Addie's favorite thing to eat...lol. To make it so Jarom doesn't get frustrated with me for making frozen chicken nuggets, I make up a yummy dipping sauce with like ketchup, hot sauce, and spices, or make my own honey mustard, or something like that.

I am queen of fast easy dinners. Rarely do I cook an all out meal for just the 3 of us... Sad, but true.

Check out Sandra Lee's semihomemade. She makes some awesome meals that are super fast. She's on food network and on the internet.

(sorry for the essay!!!)

Hey! You need to subscribe to the Krafts Food and Family magazine. It is free and there are always quick, easy, good meals in it. I made one last night. It is called Mac Chicken Caciatore. It is Kraft macaroni and cheese, cut up chicken, italian styled diced tomatoes, and diced green peppers. I was hesitant but it was so good!!!

I LOVE the kraft website...LOVE IT! It has super easy and good recipes on it. You always use a Kraft product and there usually aren't a ton of ingredients and they usually take just a few minutes to make. When you sign up on the internet you get a free Food and Family magazine that comes with tips and recipes in it every few months and I love getting those. Um...I should have 100 recipes to give you, but I can't think of any off the top of my head..but I will get on that and send an email or something.

As for Avery, maybe she is growing? Chase goes through phases like that where I am pulling teeth and nails to get him to eat anything and then a few weeks later he eats EVERYTHING in the house. It becomes like I can't feed him enough. It just takes time and patience though. I know Avery is young, but with Chase if he doesn't eat all of his dinner or veggies or something then he doesn't get anythng later like a treat. It works for Chase, but like I said Avery is kind of young to tell you that. Also, Chase can't say he doesn't like anything until he at least tries it. Again, Avery is kind of young for that...but future advice, I guess.

Sorry I posted so much...I will look for east recipes! Love you!

I meant Avery is kind of young to tell that to..and easy not east. Also, I meant to put that Chase doesn't get a treat or crackers etc. until his dinner is gone and if he doesn't eat it right then, I leave it out for him to eat later. When he comes and says he wants a yogurt, I have him go and sit down and eat his dinner or whatever and then he gets a yogurt. It seems to work pretty well.

AND I LIKE MIKE. Tell him I said HI! :)

Seems like I remember a "picky eater". Not to mention her name but it starts with Carly!

Not to worry this to will pass. Avery is not emaciated.

And I love your Mike...he is the best!

Wow thanks guys! Pasta salad, sandwiches, and kraft.com are added to my list. Oh and Avery ate some peas tonight instead of popping them all. No chicken though... oh well. Patience.
